Challenge
A leak detector for gas lines that is functional, fits the REFCO brand and still stands out from everything the industry knows.
Solution
Concept sketches, design variants with mock-ups for early handling tests, SolidWorks engineering for overmoulding (hard plastic and rubber) and a matching user interface.
Result
A production-ready device with design, engineering and GUI from a single source.
Concepts
The first ideas were sketched, discussed with REFCO and refined until the direction was clear.
Product design
The second phase brought design variants with detailed drawings and simple mock-ups. This allowed us to test handling early – long before any tooling was built.
3D CAD engineering
The 3D data was created in SolidWorks and designed for overmoulding: hard plastic and rubber as separate bodies. We checked the fit of the circuit board, display and batteries.
GUI
Finally, we designed the user interface to match the product and the corporate identity.
